Emotional Growth Seminar Facilitator.

For the past 10 years, Dean has been sharing his gifts as an Emotional Growth Facilitator. Dean dedicates his seminars to helping people connect with their true self and as a result, each participant comes away with a unique personal experience. As the participants open up and learn more about what these seminars have to offer, their input helps determine the focus and direction of their seminar. It's Dean's way of giving each person what they need, and making sure they get out of the seminar as much as they put into it.

"It's a struggle for me to watch people going about their daily lives full of hurt, fear, shame or resentment, and feeling hopeless about the possibility of things ever improving. I know better! I've been there! When given the proper tools, in the proper setting, a receptive and willing participant can begin moving forward toward peace and happiness almost immediately."

Dean's down-to-earth attitude makes him easy to identify with and his unconditional acceptance of people really puts them at ease. Mary Ellen Crase,

In 2003, Mary Ellen Crase joined a growing group of parents: her daughter was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. This moment became a motivating force in her life, inspiring her to attend Southern Utah University for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She continued her education at Argosy University in Salt Lake City with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, emphasizing in Special Needs Families. She will be starting the Clinical Psychologist EDDCP program in the summer 2010 also at Argosy University.

Previously she was a substitute teacher at Clark county school district and was often placed in special needs classrooms because she has natural compassion, love and respect for those students. She also worked with special needs adults to achieve employment.

When asked about her experiences, she says" I went to school to help other parents move through the change of having a child with a disability to acceptance. The whole family has the disorder, not just the one person, it affects everyone. I want to work with the family, mom, dad, grandma, sister brother, so that together that family can grow."

Since the diagnosis of her daughter, Mary Ellen has focused on following Autism Speaks research. She has conducted three research studies on Asperger’s topics and she is a proactive advocate for individuals with special needs.

She is been a part of  the Utah Parent Center for five years.

She is a strong supporter of Animal Assisted Therapy, including participated in her daughter's service animal training.

She is a member of the Autism Society of America: Utah Chapter.

Created “No More Time Outs” Behavior System

This is an individualized behavior system based on ABA principles. ABA is a daily therapy system that has been shown to be an effective treatment for many children with Developmental Disorders, such as Asperger’s and Autism. However it is not financially feasible for all families. NMTO trains parents in behavioral principles that reward the child’s accomplishment of even minor tasks, like brushing his teeth in the morning. It is based on rewards that adhere to the family’s set of values, as well as the child’s individual values. With committed parents, NMTO is functional enough that a family can maintain it.

While at Turning Leaf Wellness Center she has designed the "My Special Family Support Program" to help families cope with having a family member with disabilities.

She conducts FREE Parent Support groups Tues 10:30-noon and Tues 6:30-8 pm  A parenting class is also given at Tues 5:30-6:30.

Mary Ellen has a passion for children, families, and support systems for the child with Asperger’s Syndrome and other developmental disabilities. She also has strengths in the areas of Reactive Attachment Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, Bi-polar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, sexual abuse, and marriage conflict.
